Seeing as you talk for hours you must have a pretty good idea of what he wants in life. If not bring it as a general subject ie What you you like for the future?
A guy who travels to visit you is committed to you. Why else would he make the effort. You want to hear the words but are missing the signs.
Like you he will also need some assurance or hope and there is nothing wrong with "hey I really like you, where to now?" Somebody has ti make the first move and it will not change his feeling or yours. What follows was inevitable. Just don't move to fast and make him feel like he is in control.
