Make the date or wait? June 21, 2016
For some time now it has always been the men's job to make the date. They are the ones to make the first approach in a bar, or to ask for a lady's number, but surely this is a relic of the past? Research has shown that on average, men don't... more
Happy new year January 20, 2014 Congrats all, you've safely made it into 2014! I love starting a new year. For some reason, it really feels like you can turn your mind off to all the undesirables in the previous year, and start afresh with everything good!

Farewell Madiba December 12, 2013 We all knew this day would come, Madiba lived a great life which should be celebrated. | How to survive the current financial crisis July 18, 2012
I know what you're thinking, what a strange topic for a dating site to be discussing - the financial crises. Not to worry, it'll all become clear in a few minutes! So what seemed to happen was that basically some American banks started lending money they never had to other banks who then gave this non-existent money to people to buy houses they pretty much couldn't afford, and then raised the rates to make sure they couldn't pay it back either. So with America in trouble they stopped buying things from Europe so there was less money going around there, but instead of cancelling siesta time they decided to protest instead. Now protesters generally don't buy wedding rings so they stopped importing gold and diamonds from South Africa, and probably more significantly stopped coming here on holiday.
And that leads us to the global financial crises, with the end result being that have to tighten our already very abused (thanks Eskom/SARS...) belts and try to spend less. So how is being on a dating site going to solve this problem?
Well for starters, you could join www.letsmeet.co.za. This site is 100% completely free, so at least you're not spending money. In fact, if you consider the costs of a beer or glass of wine nowadays, finding someone here is far cheaper than heading out at night. Plus we won't stop you in a roadblock on the way home! Then should you meet your soul-mate and decide to get married, you could collect a decent sum of money and appliances in wedding gifts.
After that you'll only be liable to pay rent on one place, and even if you get a bigger place, it's still quite likely to cost less than the two places that were being paid for before. And apparently married people are at less risk of driving into things, so aside from the obvious health benefits there, you'll also get lower insurance rates on your car and life insurance. And having someone warm in bed next to you is also one of the cheapest forms of heating (and definitely the most fun) so expect lower electricity bills too.
So there you have it, crisis averted, and a lot of fun had in the process.
PS. If you have kids I'm afraid all the savings will be out the window. PPS. I'm not a financial guru by any means so please take this post with a pinch of salt :)
