Make the date or wait? June 21, 2016
For some time now it has always been the men's job to make the date. They are the ones to make the first approach in a bar, or to ask for a lady's number, but surely this is a relic of the past? Research has shown that on average, men don't... more
Happy new year January 20, 2014 Congrats all, you've safely made it into 2014! I love starting a new year. For some reason, it really feels like you can turn your mind off to all the undesirables in the previous year, and start afresh with everything good!
I've done the same with this website....more
Farewell Madiba December 12, 2013 We all knew this day would come, Madiba lived a great life which should be celebrated. Personally I was surprised by the amount of emotion in the South Africans, myself included. I can just offer my thanks for having been alive and living in South Africa to share in part...more

| New year, new faces, new features. January 22, 2013
2012 is now well behind us. Our fantastic politicians/comedians provided us with plenty more laughs and tears, putting to shame the entertainers on SABC, not that that is too difficult. A particular highlight had to be the whole Zuma dog ownership debacle. I still can’t believe it had no catchy title, so I think I’ll give it one. It can now officially be known as dogglegate. Remember you heard it here first!
I’m a huge cricket fan, so I’m quite pleased with the year. If you have to ask me, any time you get to kick Aussie or English butt is a good time, so doing the double in 2012 made me smile quite frequently. Now we just have to hope that bafana bafana can make us just as proud in the afcon cup. I think this one might need some supernatural assistance though. Our Olympic heroes made us proud. Special mention to our swimming superhero Chad Le Clos. It’s not often someone shocks Michael Phelps, but Chad managed that, and gave the world some entertainment from Burt, Chad’s dad. Caster also came from nowhere to grab a silver, our rowing boys got gold which apparently shocked the commentator who commented “Australia have won gold”. Erm not quite, the other green team took it.
Speaking of heroes, I’m happy to report that our much loved Madiba recovered well from his illness. As always an inspiration to all, may he have many more years to come.
For LetsMeet it was quite a ground-breaking year. We passed over the 20 000th signup, with much speed. Momentum is also on our side. January generally brings with it an increase in dating site activity of about 50%. I have no idea why, but the stats don’t lie! It’s also the year I implemented my uber super Chuck Norris scammer detection tool. I won’t go into too many details as it requires top secret avenger level clearance, but I can tell you it works like a charm! Complaints regarding spammers have decreased from an average of 10 a month to only one since implementation, and that one was actually not a scammer at all, but just an annoying member ?. The search feature has also had some work and is back in action, and the matches section has been refined quite a lot too.
The forum has improved in a big way; the only way to make it better now is to have more people use it. I’d like to invite all our members to click on the “Discussion Forum” link in the menu and pop by and have a chat. The regulars there don’t bite, unless you bother them when they’re eating of course, and seem to have a wide variety of opinions. It’s also a place you can pose a question, ask for feedback on your profile, or if it’s a weekend, complain about how much rain we’ve been having in Joburg.
On a personal note, I’ve accomplished one of my lifelong dreams, to win as many Tours de France as Lance Armstrong! Feel free to congratulate me at your leisure haha. The other site I started has just completed it’s first year of existence, and has also started to take off.
All the best for 2013,
Admin
