It's always good (and useful) to know what people are looking for on a first date. And of course, it's important to know what they don't like.
The online magazine Single Site wanted to know and conducted a survey among almost 1,000 visitors to the website: What do you like least on a first date? Here are the results.

The survey showed that the smell of sweat is by far the most unpleasant. No less than 70 per cent felt that this was the biggest disappointment. Here is the full top 10 people who are offended on a first date.

2. the person opposite has bad teeth.
3. your date talks about herself the whole time and doesn't ask you any questions.
4. your potential lover spends all his time looking at other men or women.
5. your date clearly only wants one thing: sex!
6. your date is underdressed.
7. your date drinks too much.
8. the other person has bad table manners.
9. your date talks about her ex all the time.
10. their date is late.

Outside the top 10, but also undesirable on a first date, are people who only talk about their work, talk about previous dates or make inappropriate jokes. Shy people and men and women who immediately talk about their desire to have children are also undesirable on a first date.
What can you do about sweat odour?
The smell of sweat (underarm odour) is often combated with deodorants. However, deodorants only mask the smell and are therefore not an ideal solution. Washing with soap and water also has a temporary effect. An antiperspirant is better. They cover the pores and thus prevent sweating and the release of odours.

Other tips against sweaty odours on a date are to wear cotton clothes, wash your clothes from time to time (40 degrees cleans clothes but does not kill bacteria) and not to get nervous on a first date. However, the latter is not easy.

Teeth and dating
Number two on the list of biggest first date disappointments is bad teeth. Unfortunately, this is harder to solve than gaping armpits. Start your first date with clean teeth, as teeth are at the top of the list of external features women look for on a first date. Shoes and hands are second and third on this list. So make sure you have clean hands and well-cut nails, and buy a good pair of shoes.

Many people are afraid of silence on a blind date. They have the idea that they have to talk all the time and start babbling. Then they tell each other whole stories without the other person being able to intervene. However, many women and men perceive this as disinterest, as if their story is not important.

So don't just tell your own stories, but let the other person speak. Ask questions to make it work, tell your own story too, but keep it short. This way you will come across as very interested. Women in particular are receptive to this and like to tell their own stories.
